Outlink AI vs MentionAgent

MentionAgent and Outlink AI both automate link-building outreach end to end, and they differ in two places. MentionAgent registers a separate sending domain and inbox for you and pursues mostly mutual mentions, where you add a line about the other site in return; Outlink AI sends from the Gmail or Outlook inboxes you connect and pursues one-way editorial links - guest posts, resource and broken-link adds, digital PR, Qwoted and unlinked mentions. Pick on which sending setup and which kind of link you want.

What MentionAgent is

MentionAgent is an AI outreach agent for founders, small marketing teams and agencies. It reads your site, searches for blog posts in your niche, qualifies the domains, finds and verifies the editor's address, and drafts a pitch about the specific post it found. Drafts wait for your approval in its dashboard, a Telegram bot, or your own AI agent through its MCP server, unless you switch on automatic sending. It registers and warms a dedicated sending domain and inbox for each customer, drafts replies when editors answer, and usually closes a deal as a mutual mention between the two sites. It also asks AI assistants your buyers' questions on a schedule and reports where you are mentioned.

Operating modelA loop that runs continuously inside guardrails you set once - discover, qualify, personalize, send, follow up, handle replies, verify - and reports into a digest you review. An agent that runs daily: it finds posts in your niche, qualifies them, drafts a batch of pitches and queues them, then follows up and drafts replies once you send.
Who drives day to dayThe autopilot proceeds on its own within your thresholds and escalates to you when a reply needs a human decision. The operator approves drafts and replies, by default one batch at a time from the dashboard, Telegram or an MCP client; automatic sending can be switched on.
Sending mailboxYour own Gmail or Outlook, connected over OAuth. Every send goes from your mailbox, inside warm-up and volume limits.A separate sending domain and Gmail inbox that MentionAgent registers, configures and warms for you, so your own domain never sends the outreach. Daily volume per inbox and inboxes per site are capped - check their site for the current limits.
PersonalizationEach pitch is drafted in your voice from the specific site's context, rather than a template with merge fields. Each pitch is written about the specific article the agent found, and steered by a plain-English targeting note you can edit in settings.
Reply handlingReplies are classified and progressed automatically; the categories you mark as needing approval come to you instead.Replies land in its inbox with a drafted answer that proposes the page, paragraph and sentence for the mention; you approve or edit before it sends.
Placement verificationPlacements are checked live and re-checked, so a link that is later removed shows as lost rather than staying counted.A nightly checker records whether each agreed link is live, gone, and followed.
Journalist source requestsConnect the inbox that receives your Qwoted alerts and matching requests get a drafted pitch; you submit it on Qwoted yourself. The outreach model is blogger prospecting: it searches for posts that could mention you and pitches the editors behind them.
Search-results overlayOutlink Radar, a free Chrome extension, badges Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo results with what your workspace already knows about each domain.Prospecting runs inside the agent's own scheduled searches, which you steer with keywords, a targeting note and a domain blocklist.
Multi-client setupA separate workspace per client with its own inboxes and billing, an agency overview across them, and white-label client reports. Each additional site gets its own sending inbox and credit allowance in the same account, run by a single operator.

Choose MentionAgent if…

  • You have no sending infrastructure and do not want to set up any: MentionAgent registers the outreach domain, creates the inbox, configures its DNS and warms it, so your own domain is never involved.
  • You are comfortable trading mentions - adding a line about the other site to one of your existing posts - and want an agent that negotiates those swaps, which smaller sites often accept when they would not link one way.
  • You want to approve every individual email from a chat app or from your own AI agent before anything sends, rather than set thresholds up front and review a digest afterwards.

Choose Outlink AI if…

  • You want one-way editorial links - guest posts, resource-page adds, broken-link replacements, digital PR and unlinked-mention reclamation - rather than mutual mentions that put outbound links on your own pages.
  • Qwoted journalist requests are part of the program and you want matching requests drafted in the same loop as your site outreach.
  • You run outreach for several clients and need team roles, no-login client approval links, white-label reports, and Search Console before-and-after measurement.
  • You would rather send from inboxes you already own - Gmail or Outlook, as many as your plan allows - so replies land where your team already works.

Common questions

Is Outlink AI cheaper than MentionAgent?

We do not publish competitor pricing on comparison pages, because it changes and a stale figure would mislead you. Outlink AI's plans, with monthly and annual billing and a 7-day free trial on your first workspace, are on our pricing page; compare them against mentionagent.ai on what matters for your program - how many emails a day you need, from how many inboxes, for how many sites.

What is the difference between a mutual mention and an editorial link?

An editorial link is one a publisher adds because the page is worth citing - you give nothing in return except the content or quote. A mutual mention is a swap: each site adds a line about the other. Occasional swaps between genuinely related sites are common, but Google's spam policies name excessive link exchanges as link spam, so the share of your links that are reciprocal matters. Outlink AI pursues one-way placements; when an editor proposes a swap it flags the reply as a judgment call and can counter with an editorial alternative, and agreeing to an exchange stays your decision.

Does Outlink AI send cold email from my main domain?

It sends from whichever inboxes you connect. Many teams connect an inbox on a separate outreach domain so their main domain's reputation is never involved. Either way, each connected inbox gets its own warm-up, daily cap and health score, and the sending gate holds volume inside them. Connecting a mailbox on your primary domain works too, with replies landing in the inbox your team already uses.

The plays behind the comparison

What the autopilot actually runs, play by play, plus plain definitions of the terms this table uses. Start with the tactics overview for the whole set.

Tactic

Guest posting

Find contributor-friendly publications, pitch relevant topics in your voice, and track each placement.

Tactic

Resource & broken-link

Find resource pages and dead outbound links, then pitch your content as the relevance-scored replacement.

Tactic

Unlinked mentions & niche edits

Find unlinked brand mentions and relevant posts, then draft and send link-insert requests from your own inbox.

Definition

Editorial link

An editorial link is a link a writer or editor chose to add because it helps their reader, with nothing given in exchange. It is the kind of link search engines are trying to reward, as opposed to links that were bought, swapped, or placed by the site being linked to.

Definition

Google link spam policy

Google's link spam policy is the published section of its search spam policies defining link practices Google considers manipulative - buying or selling links for ranking purposes, excessive link exchanges, large-scale automated link building, and requiring links as a condition of an agreement.

Definition

Email deliverability

Email deliverability is whether the messages you send actually reach the recipient's inbox rather than their spam folder or nowhere at all. For link-building outreach it is the constraint that decides whether any of the work is seen.
